Stevandić convenes leaders of parties from RS to discuss RS Election Law

(Patria) - The Speaker of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, has called a meeting of the presidents of parliamentary parties based in RS for tomorrow in Banja Luka to discuss the election law of Republika Srpska.

Stevandić previously stated that it is necessary to responsibly discuss how RS could protect itself with its own election law and conduct elections for municipal and city assemblies, as well as for the President of RS and deputies of the National Assembly, adding that there is a constitutional basis for this.

High Representative Christian Schmidt called on the RS authorities not to do this, but to focus on the election process integrity package, and the amendments to the Election Law were adopted in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly at the proposal of SDA, and sent to the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly under an urgent procedure.
