Šteta: New railway line introduced in Sarajevo Canton with the new year

(Patria) - The railway line from the Railway Station to Podlugovi started operating this morning, and the Minister of Transport of Sarajevo Canton Adnan Šteta, together with Prime Minister Edin Forto, traveled by train to Podlugovi.   

"I am extremely satisfied that with the new year, we also have a new railway line in our canton, and this is the result of our Government's commitment to establish cooperation with the Railways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and enable citizens to use the train, now on two significant routes, to Pazarić and to Podlugovi. This is one of the measures we promised to our citizens, which is why I am even happier today," said Minister Šteta. 

Upon their return to Sarajevo, the Prime Minister and the Minister will be joined on the train by the Director of the Railways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Enis Džafić, and the Mayor of the Ilijaš Municipality, Akif Fazlić.  

"The inclusion of railways in the traffic of our canton is of great importance for the quality of life. We saw all the advantages of using the train in the example of introducing the line to Pazarić, and I am satisfied that cooperation with the Railways has been expanded with the establishment of this line to Podlugovi, which, I have no doubt, will be of great benefit to all citizens, especially the residents of Ilijaš, who will be able to reach the city center in 36 minutes without changing trains," emphasized Prime Minister Forto. 

Minister Šteta pointed out that monthly passes for pupils, students, and pensioners will be valid on the train, and the stations where passengers will be received, in addition to those at the Railway Station and in Podlugovi, include the station in Ilijaš, for the first time, as it did not exist before, as well as the stations Buća Potok, Alipašin Most, Brijesće, Rajlovac, Reljevo, Semizovac, Vogošća, and Stari Ilijaš.

The train will run six times a day on weekdays and three times a day on weekends. The first departure from Podlugovi will be at 06:27, and from Sarajevo at 05:20. The last ride from the direction of Podlugovi will be at 20:36, and from Sarajevo at 19:24. 

Ticket prices will depend on the length of the journey, and for the longest route from the Railway Station to Podlugovi, the price will be 2.80 KM one way and 4.50 KM round trip.
