Šteta spoke with young people about subsidies for purchasing first property: We continue dialogue until a solution is found

(Patria) - Minister of Transport of Sarajevo Canton and acting Minister of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of Sarajevo Canton Adnan Šteta held a meeting today with young people who applied to the public call for obtaining subsidies in 2023 for the purpose of resolving their housing issue.

The meeting aimed to familiarize with the arguments of young people who, on one hand, are dissatisfied with the implementation of the public call process and the amount of subsidy they received, and on the other hand, with young people who did not receive funds but were on the final ranking list for subsidy payments.

Minister Šteta emphasized that it is important in every process to listen to all sides and, based on that, make decisions in accordance with the law. This was the first meeting of young people held with representatives of the authorities.

“I inherited challenges with young people upon taking office and could not turn a blind eye to this problem. Although I am an acting minister, my professional obligation is to be responsible for the work I do, but also from a human perspective, I am obliged to familiarize myself with the ambiguities that have arisen among young people, because I am someone who, through both the real and public sectors, has focused work on young people,” stated Minister Šteta.

Minister Šteta said that during his tenure as acting head of the relevant Ministry, he will do everything to make young people more satisfied than they are today, and thanked them for coming and creating a dialogue that will continue in the coming days, all with the aim of finding potential solutions to the satisfaction of all.

We remind that young people were paid 4,800 KM each out of the promised 10 to 12 thousand KM for the purchase of their first property. This is the lowest amount paid since the public call has been implemented. It is true that a record number of young people exercised their right under the public call from 2023, while in 2024 there was no public call at all.
