Šteta postpones SDP BiH Cantonal Committee session to October 30: Battle for KS Minister of Health continues

(Patria) - The SDP Sarajevo Cantonal Committee was supposed to make a decision at today's session on which candidate would replace the KS Minister of Health Haris Vranić, who expressed a desire not to be in the new KS Government. At yesterday's KS Assembly session, the KS Government was dismissed, leaving a 14-day period to propose a mandate holder and new ministers. However, the Cantonal Committee session was suddenly postponed for technical reasons and rescheduled for October 30. Those familiar with the internal SDP situation will say that nothing is accidental.

In a publicly released letter to Adnan Šteta, Vranić proposed the name Ademir Spahić as the new minister. However, besides Spahić, there are two other names in contention.

These are Enis Hasanović, director of the KS Institute for the Protection of Women's Health and Maternity. Hasanović is a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics, and the third candidate is Sanjin Saračević, who is employed at the Institute for the Health Protection of Employees of the MUP KS.

Ademir Spahić is employed at the JU Health Center and is the president of the institution's Management Board. It was precisely the KS Health Center that signed an agreement with the International University of Goražde on December 16, 2022, based on which the Public Institution Health Center of Sarajevo Canton becomes a teaching base for students of the Faculty of Medicine of that university. The agreement was signed by the Director of the Health Center, Abel Baltić, while Spahić became an associate professor at the same university just a few days later, which was also published on the university's website.

The former rector of this university, Hajriz Bećirović, told Interview.ba that he had submitted all his findings about irregularities at IUG to the Ministry of Education of Bosanskopodrinjski Canton. The BPK Prosecutor's Office confirmed that they have three criminal cases formed in connection with this university.

Unofficial information suggests that Spahić was clearly told to resign, but he did not back down and continued to lobby for the support of the SDP Cantonal Committee members. However, whether that will be enough for him to become a candidate for minister will be known on Monday.
