
(Patria) - Numerous damages have occurred as a result of the floods that hit the Fojnica area on October 4. The floods, unfortunately, claimed three human lives and caused enormous material damage that is still being tallied.
According to data from the Commission for Damage Assessment of the Fojnica municipality, within the prescribed deadline, citizens submitted 402 requests for damage assessment. As of yesterday, 200 applications have been processed, and work is ongoing to resolve all cases related to the damages as soon as possible.
The Commission states that 370 households were affected, 160 residential buildings were damaged, of which four buildings suffered total damage. Additionally, 185 auxiliary buildings were damaged, and 88 cars were destroyed or damaged. A total of 85 households were left without firewood. Regarding commercial buildings, according to the Commission's data, 25 of them suffered significant damage.
The regional road 437 Fojnica - Ostrožac was damaged over a length of 10.5 kilometers, approximately 70% of the road network. According to the assessment of the Directorate for Roads of the Central Bosnia Canton, the amount of damage is around 30,000,000.00 KM.
Likewise, local roads were damaged, with estimated damage of around 1,000,000.00 KM, as well as local bridges, with estimated damage of around 250,000.00 KM.
Five smaller landslides and five rockfalls were recorded in the settlements of Dusina and Gojevići, as well as five smaller rockfalls that could endanger traffic on RP 437, with damage of around 100,000.00 KM.
Damages to business entities and public institutions amount to around 9,000,000.00 KM.
Under the direct influence of the floods, from the Željeznica and Fojnica rivers, the flood area covers about 300 hectares, over a length of 25 kilometers, damaging agricultural and construction land.
In the mentioned area, the riverbed needs to be regulated in several places, and the competent ministry has not yet submitted an assessment report or a proposal of measures, so the Commission has no information on the amount of damage in this area.
Based on all the above, the Commission for Damage Assessment of the Fojnica municipality believes that the total damage in the municipality area will amount to 50,000,000.00 KM.
On the other hand, into a special account of the Fojnica municipality, for the purpose of depositing donations for assistance in remedying the consequences of the floods in the Fojnica municipality area, over the past month - from October 7 to November 7, 349,008.07 KM was deposited.
All remaining deposits for this purpose, as well as final damage assessments, will be published subsequently.
