Storm damage in Bijeljina nearly two million KM

(Patria) - The damage suffered by farmers in Semberija during the July storm has been estimated at nearly two million KM, the City Administration of Bijeljina announced.

Of that, 1.8 million KM is damage to greenhouses, and the remaining 200,000 KM to orchards and cornfields.

Sreten Vučković from the city's Department of Agriculture says that 580 requests for damage assessment and compensation have been submitted, of which 502 reports relate to damaged greenhouses, 56 to cornfields damaged by the storm, and 22 to orchards.

After Bijeljina was hit by a storm on July 19 with wind gusts exceeding 100 kilometers per hour, a state of natural disaster was declared. Four commissions were formed and visited all locations where damage to agricultural land was reported.

Three more commissions for assessing damage to more than 260 reported individual and collective buildings are expected to complete their work today.
