Štefica Galić awarded the Johan Philipp Palm Prize

(Patria) - The editor-in-chief of the portal Tačno.net from Mostar, Štefica Galić, was awarded the Johan Philipp Palm Prize for freedom of speech in 2018 today in Schorndorf.

The prize is named after Johann Philipp Palm, a German literary publisher and freedom fighter who was killed in the early 19th century during Napoleon's conquests by direct order of the French commander Napoleon Bonaparte. The award was presented by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Palm.

In her address, Galić said that she was extremely honored by this important award, adding that the man whose name the award bears will be an inspiration and encouragement to her in her future work, in the fight for a better and more just world.

"I am receiving the award at a time when I had almost lost faith in good and justice. The award does not come from my country, but from you, from Germany. I cannot help but remember the famous saying that no one is a prophet in their own country. Be that as it may, I am happy that someone has recognized my commitment and the struggle that has been going on for years. I work and fight and never even thought that I could be awarded for it, nor did I expect it. All my activity is the result of what I consider my moral and human duty. Nothing more, nothing less," she said in her speech.
