Trail of Remembrance for all killed citizens of Sarajevo, members of the Army and MUP of RBiH to be set up on April 5

(Patria) - Numerous citizens, including those who lost family members during the aggression against BiH and its capital, institutions, schools, and public figures, responded to the call of the Memorial Center Sarajevo and the City of Sarajevo, donating shoes for the installation "Trail of Remembrance" which will be displayed on April 5 from the Aria center to Baščaršija. The installation will feature 11,541 pairs of shoes, symbolizing each citizen killed during the siege of Sarajevo, which lasted 1,425 days.

Director of the Memorial Center Sarajevo, Ahmed Kulanić, thanked all citizens, volunteers, institutions, public companies, and associations who supported the "Trail of Remembrance" project by donating shoes, working at collection points, posting, and sharing their stories from besieged Sarajevo.

"The central commemoration begins on April 5 in the early morning hours, when numerous volunteers and employees of the Memorial Center Sarajevo will start arranging the footwear, setting up the 'Trail of Remembrance'. The program starts at 11:00 AM in front of the Monument to the Killed Children of Besieged Sarajevo 92-95. Until 12:30 PM, a walk is planned along the main streets of the City of Sarajevo - Marshal Tito Street, Ferhadija, Sarači to Baščaršija, where a special program will be held. During the walk, at certain locations, checkpoints with information about events from the siege of Sarajevo will be set up. The entire walk along the route from Sarajevo Children's Square to Baščaršija will be accompanied by a special program," said Director Kulanić.

Shoes were also donated by parents of killed children of Sarajevo, members of the Army of RBiH, the MUP of RBiH, veterans' associations, and numerous citizens who in this way symbolically wanted to be part of the memorial for all killed citizens of Sarajevo, fallen members of the Army and MUP of RBiH.

The 'Trail of Remembrance' will be permanently stored in the Memorial Forest at Hrasnički stan on Mount Igman. This is a project on which the Government of the Sarajevo Canton and the Memorial Center Sarajevo are working together.
