Path of Remembrance from Children of Sarajevo Square to Baščaršija, 11,541 pairs of shoes for murdered Sarajevo citizens

(Patria) - The "Path of Remembrance" installation is being set up in Sarajevo from this morning, from Children of Sarajevo Square to Baščaršija. Volunteers and employees of the Sarajevo Memorial Center are setting up 11,541 pairs of shoes for every murdered citizen of Sarajevo, and fallen members of the Army and MUP RBiH.

This memorial is jointly organized by the City of Sarajevo and the Sarajevo Memorial Center.

The program begins at 11 AM in front of the Monument to the Murdered Children of Besieged Sarajevo 92-95. Until 12:30 PM, a walk through the main streets of the City of Sarajevo is planned - Maršala Tita, Ferhadija, Sarači streets to Baščaršija, where a suitable program will be held. During the walk, checkpoints with information about events from the period of the Siege of Sarajevo will be set up at certain locations. The entire walk along the route from Children of Sarajevo Square to Baščaršija will be accompanied by a suitable program.

Shoes were also donated by the parents of murdered children of Sarajevo, members of the Army RBiH, MUP RBiH, veteran associations, and numerous citizens who symbolically wanted to be part of the memorial to all murdered citizens of Sarajevo, and fallen members of the Army and MUP RBiH.

The 'Path of Remembrance' will be permanently stored in the Memorial Forest at Hrasnički stan on Mount Igman. This is a project jointly undertaken by the KS Government and the Sarajevo Memorial Center.

A live broadcast of the memorial walk will be aired by Sarajevo Television.
