First-graders in Stari Grad celebrate the start of school with dancing, songs, and sweets

First-graders who sat at school desks in Stari Grad on Monday received backpacks, school supplies, and gift bags with sweets from the Municipality of Stari Grad today. A ceremony on the occasion of welcoming first-graders, with a performance by their older classmates, was organized by the Municipality of Stari Grad on the plateau in front of the Municipality building.

A total of 245 first-graders from the schools "Saburina", "Hamdija Kreševljaković", "Vrhbosna", "Šejh ef. Hadžijamaković", "Edhem Mulabdić", "Mula Mustafa Bašeskija", and the "Mjedenica" Institute entertained themselves today with dancing, games, and songs. 

The schoolchildren were greeted by the President of the Municipal Council of Stari Grad, Jusuf Pušina, who told them to always remain cheerful, happy, and carefree as they are today.

- This is a day that you, children, will remember your whole lives. Before us today are future presidents of states, ambassadors, mayors, chairmen, ministers, doctors, academics... You don't know that yet, but the quality education you will receive will enable you to become that - said Pušina.

He told them to study hard, but also to always remain in good spirits as they are today. On behalf of the Municipality of Stari Grad and Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, he wished them to study well at school, adopt many good and valuable habits, and learn their first letters and numbers, first songs, and dance steps with joy.

This year, Imad Čimpo and Nidal Kurtović started first grade at the "Mula Mustafa Bašeskija" Elementary School. Imad told us that when he grows up he wants to be a footballer, and Nidal is very determined to work in civil protection. They said they were happy to have started school, that they would play with their friends every day, and promised to listen to their teachers.

A special surprise for the first-graders were the sweet gift bags that were prepared and packed for them by the employees of the municipal Service for Education, Culture, and Sport.
