Old Town primary school students will attend performances at the Youth Theatre

The Old Town Municipality continues this year with projects that enable Old Town students to go to the theatre, thus trying to develop awareness of culture and create a habit of attending theatre performances among the youngest population, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria. 

The Mayor of the Old Town Municipality, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, and the acting director of the Public Institution „Youth Theatre Sarajevo“, Semir Krivić, signed a contract for a targeted grant in the amount of 5,000 KM intended for this institution.

Thanks to this grant, primary school students (from grades I to IV) from Old Town will have the opportunity during the year to visit theatre performances at the Youth Theatre. According to the words of acting director Krivić, the situation in this institution is improving, unlike in previous years.

- Recently, thanks to funds from the cantonal Ministry of Culture, we completely insulated the building, renovated the facade, replaced windows, and introduced new heating, and we soon plan to work on the theatre hall as well.

Krivić particularly highlighted good cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of France and the Goethe Institute, thanks to which the repertoire of the Youth Theatre is much richer, and consequently more people come to the performances.

Mayor Hadžibajrić expressed hope that after these visits to performances, Old Town primary school students will come to love the theatre and thus independently attend performances in the future. Last year, the Old Town Municipality signed similar grants with the Chamber Theatre 55 and the National Theatre, whose performances were attended by Old Town primary school students, as well as secondary school students. Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić announced the continuation of this cooperation for this year as well.
