Stari Grad soon to get a center for families of children and persons with developmental disabilities

At the 3rd session of the Stari Grad Sarajevo Municipal Council, premises were allocated to the association “Dajte nam šansu” with the aim of opening a new service center for families of children and persons with developmental disabilities. The new center is expected to open on Obala Kulina bana street.

Using innovative models through direct work, they provide support to families of children and adults with developmental disabilities. The existing service center in the area of Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipality, as the only one of its kind in Sarajevo Canton, is overloaded given the needs and capacities.

Due to the above, Stari Grad Municipality decided to help open another service center in the inner core of Sarajevo. The opening of the center in the area of Stari Grad Sarajevo Municipality will enable these families access to free services, and the services would also be available to users coming from other municipalities of Sarajevo Canton.

Discussions on the realization of this idea between the SDP Stari Grad Municipal Board and the president of the association “Dajte nam šansu” Ines Kavalec began in the previous term of the Municipal Council, while with the help of the municipal mayor, the idea was realized in this term of the Municipal Council.

- Our actions are tied to the continuity of our policies, and we are proud that the project we initiated in the previous term of the MC is now being realized. Families of children and persons with developmental disabilities will receive great help in performing daily activities through the establishment of this service center. For us, social democrats, social policy will remain a priority in our future work, as well as support for persons with disabilities and developmental difficulties.
