Situation in Cazin critical, houses flooded in Bosanska Krupa, water overflowing from canals in Bihać

For the past few days, rain has been falling incessantly and the situation in the municipality of Cazin regarding floods is becoming critical, reports the Patria News Agency.

In previously known locations Tržac, Pjanići, Samardžići, water is threatening, and the water level has reached a critical point. In Tržac, the road is already flooded and vehicles are moving with difficulty.

In Bosanska Krupa, heavy rains in the past few days have caused the water levels of the Una and Krušnica rivers, as well as smaller watercourses in this area, to rise.

Water has flooded houses that have never been flooded before, and it has also flooded buildings not located near streams or rivers. Flooding occurred due to rainwater from the hills.

A similar situation has been recorded in the area of Bosanska Otoka. The situation in the municipality is alarming, and currently, it is most severe in settlements located along the tributaries of the Una and Krušnica rivers.

In case of a sudden rise in water levels, citizens can call the duty service of the Civil Protection Headquarters at phone number 123 and seek assistance.

Due to heavy rainfall in the area of Bihać city as well, canals for rainwater overflowed in several local communities during the past night. Floods have been recorded in local communities Čavkići, Veliki Lug, Kamenica, and Vedro Polje. Together with the residents, the city administration, public companies Komrad and Vodovod, the Bihać Fire Department, and the Bihać Mountain Rescue Service have joined in the remediation and protection of family homes and property.

The most critical situation during the night was in the settlement of Vedro Polje, where after the canal overflowed, a large number of family homes were left under water. In the late evening hours, the machinery of JP Vodovod dug a local road in this settlement and diverted the water, thus preventing further rise of water in the flooded part of the settlement, writes bihac.net.
