Stanivuković: We will support Željka Cvijanović's veto

(Patria) - An unwritten rule, which we should consider the highest law in Republika Srpska, must be that the "Serb member of the BiH Presidency is not outvoted", whoever they may be and whatever their name, stated the president of PDP, Draško Stanivuković.

He emphasized that decisions in the BiH Presidency must be made by consensus, "and without the Serb member, there is no consensus".

- I know that tomorrow the same Serbs will launch new attacks and new reasons to accuse us of treason. I know that in Banja Luka they are doing all the worst things, as if it were not part of Republika Srpska. I know that their patriotism has nothing to do with love for the homeland.

I know that their interests often have nothing to do with the interests of the nation. I know that for them, politics is from today until tomorrow, but not for us - said Stanivuković.

Their trampling of principles, he added, must never mean "that we should do the same".

- Other people's bad moves cannot be an excuse for ours, because all their irresponsibility cannot be an excuse for us to be irresponsible today. That is why PDP will support the veto - added Stanivuković.

He also points out that PDP will simultaneously propose a conclusion calling for all Serbs being tried in BiH courts to have the same treatment, the same legal protection and institutional support as Dodik, Višković and Stevandić, meaning there should be no double standards - one for them, and another for the people.

- Everything we do today is timed for eternity. It is clear to us that some will condemn us today, but it is equally clear to us that principles and long-term policies are often recognized over time and a certain temporal distance.

Even after this, political differences remain, but the fundamental national ones must never exist - stated Stanivuković.
