Stanivuković searched again at the Croatian border

(Patria) - Banja Luka Mayor Draško Stanivuković received, as he puts it, a "cordial welcome from the neighbours" given that he was searched again at the border with Croatia. He commented on this on social media, saying that this is already a well-rehearsed procedure.

Airport – detention and search. Border – detention and search. Luggage – always opened, so that not even the smallest detail is missed. Continuity that even the most organised services would envy. One would think I am at least a dangerous criminal… if not that, then at least a suspicious migrant, and not someone coming with the intention of building normal, neighbourly relations. And so, from trip to trip.

Although he no longer counts such searches, he says he will continue to extend a hand of friendship to his fellow Croatian citizens in Banja Luka.

The greater the pressure – the calmer I am. The stronger the 'hospitality' – the more patient I am. Without spite. Without hatred. Somewhat Gandhian, dignified and persistent. Regardless of this treatment, I will continue to extend a hand of friendship to my fellow Croatian citizens in Banja Luka.

He adds that tomorrow he will visit a family on the occasion of Bajram, "because respect and humanity must not depend on protocols and barriers".

All this happens after my visit to Serbs in Lika and Dalmatia. People I love, where my people lived and live, and whom I will always, as a human being, support. If that is a problem for someone – let it be. I will stick to my position.
