German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier warned that disputes over the refugee crisis could trigger new conflicts among the countries of the former Yugoslavia, reports the Patria news agency.
-We must ensure, above all, that the movement of refugees does not bring new conflicts to a region where we have worked hard in previous years to calm the conflict situation after the breakup of Yugoslavia, Steinmeier told reporters in Berlin, as reported by AP.
In the past few months, hundreds of thousands of refugees from the Middle East have been passing through the Balkan route in an effort to reach Western Europe.
