Stabilization of weather conditions brings an increase in allergenic plant pollen in Sarajevo Canton

(Patria) - A trend of increasing grass pollen and weed pollen is being recorded in the air, while tree pollen, predominantly pine, is present but somewhat lower compared to the previous period, according to the report by the Center for Ecology and Natural Resources - Academician Sulejman Redžić, which was submitted to the Ministry of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection.

"The continuation of stable and warm weather will favor stronger pollination of plant species that are currently blooming. Citizens of Sarajevo Canton, especially those prone to pollen allergies, should be vigilant and follow expert recommendations to protect their health. As different people are allergic to different types of pollen, individuals allergic to linden pollen should avoid parks with woody plants and, if possible, spend their free time in high mountains, above the upper forest line. People allergic to grass pollen should avoid parks and fields with unmown grassy areas, and spend as much time as possible in forests, while people allergic to weed pollen should avoid moving along unkempt and neglected areas and spend time in nature," the report states.

Relevant communal services in Sarajevo Canton are called upon to intensify activities for the maintenance of neglected public green spaces.

All individuals with seasonal rhinitis are advised to consult their family doctor in case of changes in their clinical condition.

Information on the presence of different types of allergenic plants, as well as recommendations for individuals sensitive to pollen, is available at www.pmf.unsa.ba/cep-sr.
