What Zvizdić told Palmer about 'Mini Schengen': It's possible, but...

SARAJevo, (Patria) - At the meeting with Matthew Palmer, the Special Envoy of the US State Department for the Balkans, we discussed the anniversary of the Dayton Peace Agreement, BiH's priorities and BiH's path towards Euro-Atlantic integration, according to a Twitter message from Denis Zvizdić, member of the Collegium of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.

"I said that 25 years after the Dayton Agreement, BiH would best mark it by obtaining candidate status for EU membership, progress in NATO integration, strengthening regional cooperation with our neighbors, strengthening the rule of law, starting the implementation of the Economic Reform Agenda 2 and new investments," Zvizdić stated.

He added that regarding the 'Mini Schengen' initiative, he told Palmer: "This agreement would essentially be a culmination of existing agreements that are not being implemented at full capacity, especially CEFTA, so even 'Mini Schengen' would not provide full guarantees for the successful flow of goods, people, services and capital."

"For 'Mini Schengen' to succeed, much better relations in the region would have to precede it, based on mutual respect and adherence to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and international legal subjectivity of each state, with the acceptance of relevant and proven historical facts and rulings of international courts and without any interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states. And of course, with equal treatment, without attempts at domination or circumventing a regional 'leader'," Zvizdić wrote on Twitter.
