Polling stations in Republika Srpska have begun counting votes, after the closing of polling stations which were open today from seven to 19 hours.

According to the data of the Commission for the Implementation of the Referendum on the Day of Republika Srpska, by 5 PM, 624,190 people, or 51.17 percent of all registered voters, had answered the question “Do you support the marking and celebration of January 9th as the Day of Republika Srpska?”

Although Milorad Dodik and his Željka Cvijanović are cheering at SNSD pre-election rallies tonight, saying they are “satisfied that the first referendum was successful,” it is clear that a turnout of 51.17 percent is not spectacular, as this is a narrow majority for the referendum to succeed at all.

Is it necessary to mention that there were no foreign observers or representatives of the non-governmental sector at the polling stations?

But, Dodik conducted an unconstitutional referendum, or rather a poll, but what next, Milorad. There are no official reactions from the OHR and international factors yet, but morning is always wiser, so a turbulent day is expected for the President of RS tomorrow.

Kasim Trnka, an expert in constitutional law, pointed out tonight as a guest on Hayat TV that it is possible that the international community will restrict the movement of the referendum organizers, and then deny them financial assistance.
