What the CIA Didn't Get Right in Its Predictions for 2015

Exactly 15 years ago, the Central Intelligence Agency published its forecast for the current year in a 70-page report. Here are some of the most interesting parts of that text, published by The Telegraph, reports the Patria News Agency.

-International relations will be shaped by powerful organizations, which will have much more influence than state governments. Prediction: Probably correct," the CIA report begins.

Various conspiracy theorists would immediately agree with this statement.

American media, evaluating this forecast today, claim that the CIA was right, citing the Islamic State or hackers who took down "Sony" as examples of "powerful organizations."

However, how much of this is true, and how much is part of American propaganda, is debatable at best.

"From today until 2015, terrorist attacks will become more frequent, harder to predict, and planned to cause a large number of civilian casualties. Prediction: Correct."

This statement unfortunately turned out to be true, given that terrorist attacks in the past 15 years have claimed a large number of lives.

"Iraq and Iran will develop long-range weapons of mass destruction. Iran could test these weapons as early as 2004."

This prediction turned out to be completely incorrect.

The CIA made Iraq a global enemy of the US, and the entire world, and the American military intervened. Iran, on the other hand, also suffers various pressures from the United States and numerous external factors, such as various human rights organizations, but still does not yield. And there is no sign of testing weapons of mass destruction.

The CIA also predicted that the world's population would exceed 7.2 billion people, which is absolutely correct.

"China's economy will grow to the extent that it will overtake Europe and become the second economic power in the world, behind the US." Almost correct, considering that China has pushed America to second place, and today it is considered the strongest and largest economy in the world.

From the above, it can be concluded that the predictions of the Central Intelligence Agency have proven to be partially correct.
