What will be the counter-service for the appointment of Ćulum as SIPA director, and to whom?

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Darko Ćulum has been the director of the Police of Republika Srpska for the last four years, and has a total of 30 years of police service. He finished high school for police officers in Sarajevo in 1988, and started working in the profession a year later. While many considered him retired due to meeting the conditions and benefits, the current head considers Ćulum's proposal for the director of SIPA to be the best choice, writes N1.

"This is a candidate with the most experience and a rich police career. After Ćulum's election, I expect much better cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska and SIPA, and thus more joint actions aimed at the security of our citizens, which has not been at the highest level in the previous period," said the Minister of Internal Affairs of RS, Dragan Lukač.

After the Minister of Security of BiH, Fahrudin Radončić, revoked the proposal of his predecessor, Dragan Mektić, thus challenging the extension of Perica Stanić's mandate, the position in SIPA is smiling upon Darko Ćulum. Everything could officially be decided on Wednesday after the session of the Council of Ministers.

"The procedure has been carried out, as you know, it has been proposed, now it is up to the Council of Ministers to complete the appointment," said Milorad Dodik, president of SNSD.

The group Justice for David calls for the appointment of Ćulum to be abandoned. They consider him responsible for repression and cover-ups of murder. Everything, as they said, is the result of a party agreement between Radončić and Dodik. Ozren Perduv stated:

"We consider this shameful and humiliating for everyone, because this man is the director of the same police that organized the shameful press conference in March 2018, the same one who was at the head of the police that on December 25, 2018, launched a brutal operation against unarmed people, arrested Davor and Suzana, which attempted to violate the constitutionally guaranteed rights of citizens who support the Dragičević family through repressive measures."

Many remember Darko Ćulum for his statement that the Krunić case was "clarified," even though the motive was "still unknown." They also remember him for his statement that a gram of cocaine in Banja Luka had become cheaper:

"It depends on the market, on supply and demand, but I think it's around 100 KM (per gram of cocaine)," writes N1.

Following the personnel puzzle of the new coalition partners, analyst Tanja Topić is not surprised by the consent of the Bosniak corps to the appointment of Ćulum. This only means, as she said, that a counter-service is expected in some other appointment:

"Many political parties that are now participating in forming the government are good old friends who have been functioning perfectly under the radar of the public for several decades and easily agree on the division of spoils of war."

A very important position among others, for the state, but also for the Party of Democratic Action, is the position of OSA director, where SDA still insists that Osman Mehmedagić, the current director whose mandate has expired, but whose university diploma has also been annulled, should remain.
