Serbian Zavetnici provoked Sarajevo and the European Union at the Latin Bridge!

The authors of the provocative photograph at the Latin Bridge in Sarajevo, featuring a Serbian flag and a banner supporting Gavrilo Princip, are members of the radical organization “Srpski sabor Zavetnici“, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP). According to claims on the organization's website, the incident occurred before the official ceremony began.

- The gathered citizens, as well as EU representatives present, watched the entire event with disbelief. The ceremony, titled “Day of Peace”, scheduled in Sarajevo for Vidovdan, aimed to blame Serbs for the outbreak of World War I. In Belgrade in recent days, a similar event called “Sarajevo Days” was held, aiming to demonize Gavrilo Princip and characterize him as a terrorist, rather than what he is - one of the greatest heroes of the twentieth century - states this nationalist organization. Their website shows their support for radicals and right-wingers worldwide, from Marine Le Pen in France to Bashar al-Assad in Syria.

According to their statement, “for Zavetnici, Gavrilo Princip represents the symbol of the Serbian struggle for freedom“.

- Since our Government distances itself from Gavrilo Princip and accepts blame for a war in which Serbs suffered the most and due to which they experienced permanent biological disability, we wanted to pay tribute to this great hero with this symbolic gesture and show and prove that our stance on Princip is actually the stance of the majority of Serbs on both sides of the Drina. The Zavetnici delegation visited East Sarajevo, Pale, and Višegrad on their way back from Sarajevo - it was stated.

Judging by the organization's website, “Srpski sabor Zavetnici“ was formed on February 15, 2012, “as an assembly of informal patriotic associations and individuals who gathered at the barricades in Kosovo and Metohija and provided support to the Serbian people to defend their homes“.

- The movement has several thousand members, and most of them are active. Committees of Srpski sabor Zavetnici have been established throughout Serbia, and the movement's headquarters are in Belgrade. We are particularly proud of our committees south of the Ibar River, which participate in the movement's work, as well as the large number of interested people from Montenegro and Republika Srpska who contact us daily wishing to join and help establish initiative committees - claim the “Zavetnici“, reports NAP.
