Srna Bajramović: While they talk about progress at KCUS, there are no reagents for a three-year-old child's test

At the session of the KS Assembly, SDP MP Segmedina Srna Bajramović asked a parliamentary question regarding the situation in the healthcare sector, writes Patria.

- For months, we have had the opportunity to face diametrically opposed, i.e., absolutely contradictory information regarding the situation at UKCS. At one moment, we witness information in certain media about progress in every sense, which is the result of the new management's work, while at another, we have information about prominent doctors leaving most clinics, leading to a situation that has shocked the public: the fact that there were no reagents for a three-year-old child's test – said Srna Bajramović.

She added that "given that this is an institution predominantly financed by the citizens of KS with funds from the KS Health Insurance Fund, I believe it is absolutely unacceptable that within the provision of healthcare to the citizens of Sarajevo Canton, we have a situation where basic health services cannot be provided.".

Taking into account the aforementioned, I ask the relevant Ministry of Health if it is aware of the mentioned case, and whether it was just a one-time incident regarding the lack of reagents, or if the citizens of KS should expect in the future to be referred to private healthcare institutions when visiting UKCS to ensure adequate healthcare for themselves, of course, with payment?

- I want to believe that the situations we are experiencing are not a well-planned mechanism for eroding the services of the public healthcare sector, which would force the citizens of KS to seek their healthcare predominantly in private healthcare clinics, thereby quietly privatizing healthcare, and thus opening the door for the realization of questionable reform projects we have heard about for months... – Srna Bajramović stated.
