Srebrenica native Rialda Zukić earns master's degree in New York, premiere of film "Bad Blood" on February 7

In the United States (USA), specifically in New York, on February 7, the documentary film „Bad Blood-Zla krv“ by Bosnian (born in Srebrenica) Rialda Zukić, who has been living in America with her parents and two younger sisters for 15 years, will be premiered, reports the Patria news agency.

This documentary is actually Rialda's master's thesis, and she completed her studies in journalism, specifically video production and documentary filmmaking, at New York University.

The debut documentary tells the story of Rialda's life in Srebrenica, which she visited last year, and through the film she presented her feelings and experiences after returning to her hometown last year.

- I was in Srebrenica last summer from the beginning of June to August, where I spent a lot of time with the youth of Srebrenica. I had long wanted to do something in my hometown. So it turned out perfectly; I had the chance to go and shoot a film. I have been following the situation in Srebrenica for years, of course I am connected to Srebrenica and I always will be – says Zukić in an interview for the Patria agency.

She further adds that it was her greatest honor to spend time with the youth of Srebrenica and to get to know this city and everything related to it again.

- The film is about my perspective on returning to my hometown… I mean, I want to open a dialogue, especially among the youth of Srebrenica, and also in the entire Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Of course, the great consequences of the war are still alive, but I want to open a deeper discussion about the future and coexistence of Bosniaks and Serbs. Of course, the economy and youth unemployment are also major topics in the film – reveals Zukić.

Her wish is for the documentary to reach Bosnia and Herzegovina as well, because she believes it would have a positive effect on the youth of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Maybe some people who watch my film would change their opinion or their perspective on everything that was and currently is in Srebrenica. My greatest wish is for the youth of Bosnia and Herzegovina to become more powerful than they unfortunately are now. I believe that everyone has something special within themselves, and that they can successfully overcome all obstacles – added Zukić.

The documentary „Bad Blood“ lasts 30 minutes and tells the story of Rialda's socializing and getting to know 17-year-old Nikolina and 22-year-old Ismeta and their lives within their ethnic groups.
