It is a shame that Jews and Roma cannot be elected due to their ethnic affiliation

Dr. Mustafa Cerić, independent candidate for the Bosniak member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, attended the conference "War is always a defeat for humanity", held on Tuesday and Wednesday in Munich, reports the Patria News Agency.

Dr. Cerić, before representatives of the socio-political and religious life in Germany, as well as representatives of the Jewish community of our country, spoke about the world wars, the global social changes caused by these wars, but also about the conflicts that still tear humanity apart.

World wars, and especially the last aggression against our country, have left consequences that Bosnia and Herzegovina is still struggling to cope with.

- My country, my state of BiH, with its capital Sarajevo, where World War I began, has the right to testify that the promise made after World War II: 'Never again!', has not been fulfilled, and therefore this is an opportunity to say that Europe, after all it remembers from two epochal wars, must know that there is a country in it that still suffers from triviality, bordering on fascism, because after the genocide it was forced to accept the Dayton Agreement, which contains explicit structural discrimination based on racial, ethnic, and religious affiliation - emphasized Dr. Cerić.

He further noted that Bosnia and Herzegovina can no longer tolerate Jews, Roma, Albanians, and other minority peoples in it not having the right to be elected to state positions solely because of their ethnic affiliation.

- This is an injustice that must be rectified. This is a disgrace and a shame for Europe - stated Dr. Cerić, adding that such a situation is unsustainable and that the Dayton Agreement itself is fiscally unsustainable, politically impractical, and morally questionable.

- BiH deserves to have a Constitution based on the principle of the rights of every individual, just like all European countries. All residents of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina deserve to have an effective and respected state in which all people and nations will enjoy guaranteed human rights. As long as everything in Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina is not put in order, and that is in the manner of full democracy and real human rights, we cannot say that World War I or World War II have ended - emphasized Dr. Cerić.

In his address, Dr. Cerić also referred to the latest provocations from the smaller Bosnian-Herzegovinian entity, also consequences of the Dayton Agreement.

- My people have reason to fear a new genocide. Namely, Milorad Dodik recently stated in Belgrade, unprovoked, that the streets in Banja Luka will soon be named after Radovan Karadžić and Ratko Mladić, indicted for war crimes and genocide. This is the right opportunity and place to inform you about this, and that on the centenary of World War I, we in Sarajevo, despite everything, still believe in peace - concluded Dr. Cerić.
