Smuggling of perfumes, textiles, laptops, sports equipment prevented

Officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority, during controls at the Rača, Karakaj and Orašje border crossings, seized various goods that were attempted to be smuggled into the customs area of BiH with a total market value of 78,000 KM.

Carrying out enhanced control of goods import and passenger traffic, authorized officials of the ITA from the Group for Prevention of Smuggling and Offences in the Regional Center Tuzla, discovered and found various undeclared goods. During the control of goods and passenger traffic at the Rača border crossing, they found 966 pieces of perfumes of well-known world brands, undeclared and hidden. Also, in several separate operations at the Krakaj, Orašje and Rača border crossings, using donated specialized equipment for goods inspection, which was donated to the ITA by the American Embassy through the EXBS program, additional undeclared various goods were found, such as sports equipment, confectionery products, laptops and textiles. The total value of the temporarily seized goods amounts to 78,000 KM.

Against the perpetrators of the described irregularities, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Customs Offences of BiH, a request for initiating misdemeanor proceedings will be filed before the competent court.
