An artificial climbing wall was put into use last night at the Dobrinja Sports Hall within the sports and recreation club "Postani i ostani fit" – PRO-FIT, reports the B&H News Agency Patria.
Almir Maljević from the PRO-FIT association stated that the wall was installed with the help of organizations and individuals of goodwill, among whom the organization Helping Hearts and Hands, along with Amelia Randall, particularly stood out.
- We managed to build an artificial climbing wall, which will enable the development of motor skills characteristic of vertical movement (climbing), which was missing to make our physical education and sports program for children complete. The artificial wall, with an area of approximately 27m2, is now operational and available to both children and adults. We use it particularly for children, as it improves their endurance, flexibility, and strength, while also providing them with an opportunity to have fun in a way that is not typical for our Bosnian-Herzegovinian conditions.
The wall, including qualified climbing instructors, will enable children to develop both physically and mentally.
- We congratulate the staff of this association on the successful implementation of the project, which we are convinced will enrich the sports offerings in the Municipality of Novi Grad, stated Maggie Maxwell from the Helping Hands and Hearts Foundation.
Improving cooperation with non-governmental organizations, such as the sports and recreation association "Postani i ostani fit", and providing unconditional support to any initiative that contributes to creating a safe environment for unimpeded sports activities for young people, are strategic priorities of the Municipality of Novi Grad, the Mayor, and his associates. Therefore, the Municipality, without much hesitation, supported this initiative, especially because the initiative also includes the involvement of children with developmental disabilities and children from economically and socially vulnerable families in the exercise process. We hope that in this way we will mitigate the negative effects of the relatively poor economic situation in the community, and contribute to more children engaging in socially acceptable forms of behavior and developing healthy habits, said Elvir Resić, Assistant Mayor of Novi Grad for Education, Culture, Sports, and Local Integrated Development.
Since its construction in 2005 as a gift from Mercator BH to the Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo, the Dobrinja Sports Hall has been the central sports facility in this part of the most populous local community in BiH. In addition to the large hall, which is equipped for team sports (futsal, basketball, handball, volleyball...), for both sports clubs and recreational sessions, we are pleased that within the hall we also have the sports and recreation club "Postani i ostani fit", which is designed for both professional athletes and recreational users of any age. With the construction of the artificial climbing wall, our hall, and Novi Grad as a municipality, now offer state-of-the-art training facilities for children of various age groups, as well as professional climbers and members of mountain rescue services. We hope that this artificial climbing wall will contribute to a larger number of our citizens, both young and old, spending their free time in sports facilities and thus improving their quality of life and overall health, stated Ramiz Duraković from J.P. Lokom d.o.o.
