AGREEMENT Left has 14 councilors: Mayor from Our Party, does Skaka have a majority

Six representatives of left-wing parties signed an agreement late last night on the distribution of positions in the City Council and the City Administration of the City of Sarajevo. For today's constitutive session of the new convocation of the Council, the left has secured its 14 councilors, Patria reports.

According to the Agreement signed by six parties and 14 councilors (SDP, DF, GS, Alliance for Stari Grad, First Independent List, Our Party), the SDP will propose a candidate for the Chairperson of the City Council (Serb), one deputy from the Bosniak people will be proposed by the Talović-Srna Club, and from the Croatian people, the candidate will be provided by the Alliance for Stari Grad.

The candidates for these positions are Miro Lazović, Sead Srna, and Vedran Dodik. 

The candidate for mayor will be proposed by Our Party from among the Others, one deputy by DF from the Bosniak people, while the other will be from the SDP, from the Croatian or Serbian people.

The leadership of the City Council is elected today by secret ballot. Given that the left has 14 councilors, and the SDA-SBB coalition, with its 11, also has three independent councilors, it is uncertain which bloc will have a majority and who will side with the left in the meantime. 

Once the City Council is elected, it will be known who the new mayor will be. The SDA-SBB coalition still stands by its candidate Abdullah Skaka, while the name of Our Party's candidate for mayor is still unknown. 

The agenda of today's session includes the election of the Chairperson of the City Council of the City of Sarajevo, the election of two deputy chairpersons of the City Council of the City of Sarajevo, the election of members of the Commission for Elections and Appointments of the City Council of the City of Sarajevo, the election of the Mayor of the City of Sarajevo, the election of two deputy mayors of the City of Sarajevo, and a proposal for a Decision on the election of members of the working bodies of the City Council of the City of Sarajevo.

 Although the name of Dževad Bećirević was floated, he will not be proposed.
