Špirić attacks Bosniaks, will he finally face consequences for abuse of office?

Nikola Špirić, Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers of BiH and Minister of Finance, has attacked Bosniaks and claims he fears a change in the mentality of Bosniaks in a radical sense, writes the Patria news agency.

However, as NAP learns, Špirić is actually afraid of his own machinations and criminal acts he committed, which the BiH Prosecutor's Office dismissed in the first round of the fight against corruption. Yet, as we learn, it is very possible that the report on the abuse of official position and authority by Nikola Špirić during the procurement of an Audi Q7 for his needs will be reactivated.

We remind that the suspicious invoices were personally handed over to SIPA and the BiH Prosecutor's Office by Špirić's then-deputy Fuad Kasumović, who told the Patria news agency that this case is only proof that many cases against "big fish" are sitting in the drawers of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, waiting for the statute of limitations.

- From the original invoices, it is evident that the branch of the company Brčko gas from Donji Žabar purchased the Audi Q7 for 133,233 KM, only to sell it the same day to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of BiH for 219,900 KM. There are therefore grounds for suspicion that the budget of state institutions was damaged by 86,667 KM – says Kasumović.

He adds that he is disappointed that this case has not been resolved, even though the evidence for the committed criminal act is unquestionable. As NAP learns, at that time Špirić was intensively socializing with Milorad Novković, the President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC), who apparently helped him keep the case of the illegally procured luxury SUV in the drawer.

- I know that was the talk, and I also saw them in restaurants. It is obvious that everything concerning politicians and their crimes is kept in drawers. That's how it's done, and cases fall apart under the excuse that they have more pressing matters. The case is recorded, so whether it will ever be resolved, we will see – added Kasumović.

Špirić continued with the old practice today, and it is interesting that he, as the state minister of finance and treasury, surpasses other members of the Council of Ministers in total income. His salary amounts to 4,876 marks, and his total income is twice as high.

But even that is not enough for Špirić, as recent research and findings have been published indicating that Špirić used budget money to build a house in Drvar.
