Rescue teams digging towards the last miner, Fejzo Isaković

Shortly before midnight, rescue teams recovered the body of the fourth miner, Hajrudin Brdarac, and the recovery of the fifth miner's body, Fejzo Isaković, is expected during the day, writes the BH news agency Patria.

The miners' bodies were transported to the Zenica Cantonal Hospital for autopsy. The operation to recover the bodies of the deceased miners lasted more than 12 hours, as a larger opening had to be dug to reach them. 

The FBiH Government declared September 8th a Day of Mourning, and the funeral for the deceased miners will likely take place then. September 7th and 8th have been declared days of mourning in the Municipality of Zenica.

We remind you that on Thursday, September 4th, an earthquake near Zenica caused a rock burst in the Raspotočje mine of RMU Zenica, trapping 34 out of 56 miners at a depth of over 500 meters. Although rescue teams immediately arrived at the scene, the rescue operation lasted a full 19 hours. When 29 miners emerged from the mine, it became clear that it was too late for five miners. High concentrations of methane and carbon dioxide, and a lack of oxygen were the cause of death for these miners.
