Spain Against Corona: Sanchez Announces New Stricter Measures

(Patria) – Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will announce the establishment of strict movement restrictions, and the closure of restaurants and other public places in a few hours to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

The Associated Press, which has access to the draft measures, writes that Spanish citizens will only be allowed to leave their homes to buy food and medicine, travel to work, medical centers, and banks, or to care for their family members. These restrictions will be in effect from Monday morning.

Spain is already closing all restaurants, hotels, bars, educational centers, and other non-essential retail outlets.

In Spain, there are about 5,753 infected people, and half of them are in Madrid. The number has increased by 1,500 in just 24 hours.

Sánchez announced on Friday that the number of infected people could reach 10,000 in the next few days, and his cabinet is preparing to declare a state of emergency at the national level.
