Šošić resigned, Alihodžić replaced him: Mayor Efendić stated that SDP showed its treacherous face

(Patria) - At today's session of the Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipal Council, a new president of the Council was elected, Haris Alihodžić from SDA, from the Others category. Alihodžić received 28 councilor votes.

The former president, Jasmin Šošić, addressed the Council and stated that his resignation from the position of president of the Municipal Council was an act of a "legalist and patriot who respects and loves his homeland and its institutions".

This change occurred after the Constitutional Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed that the election of the president of the Novi Grad Municipal Council was not in accordance with articles VI.1.1), VI.3.(5), IH.7.(1) and IH.11a. of the Constitution of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Although, for example, the situation is the same in the municipality of Stari Grad where the mayor and the president of the Municipal Council come from the same constituent nation, Bosniaks, as well as in the Municipality of Ilidža, the SDP did not seek an opinion from the Constitutional Court of the FBiH for those municipalities, but exclusively for Novi Grad where the SDP is not part of the government.

Šošić specifically addressed his colleagues from the SDP.

"And now a few words for my colleagues from the SDP, especially for their inserted project from the Republic of Serbia, BIA spy, Vojin Mijatović. I will not mince words, enough of the pretense of being 'nice guys', hiding behind phrases and political duplicity. If Bosniaks as a people bother you here, say it loudly. If the children of martyrs, the Golden Lilies, and the children of the Golden Lilies bother you, say that clearly too. Because from everything you are doing, it is obvious that they do bother you," he said.

"I also have a very simple question for my colleagues from the SDP in the Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipal Council, a question to which we have never received an answer: If you are already lecturing others on legitimacy, colleague Filipović, are you a 'legitimate representative of the Croatian people'? Does the HDZ recognize you as their exponent of politics in this municipal council? Does Dragan Čović recognize you? Perhaps they will give you consent at this moment because, as a political entity, you have agreed to undermine the state and be his subjects and servants for the sake of power. You are ready to betray your people, faith, and country for a position. You cannot be a 'representative of everything and anything' just when you need political bargaining.

Here you need votes to achieve something. In Novi Grad, 84 percent are Bosniaks. We are not threatening anyone, but we will all fight for their well-being," Šošić said.

The SDP club left today's session because there was no change in other members of the Municipal Council.

Mayor Semir Efendić also commented on these events. He dedicated his announcement to the leadership of the Novi Grad Municipal Council.

"Jasmin Šošić was elected President of the Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipal Council after the last local elections. The SDP, the party of Nermin Nikšić and Vojin Mijatović, could not tolerate this. Vojin Mijatović sued, or rather, sought an opinion from the Constitutional Court of the FBiH to annul the appointment of the president of the Municipal Council because he is a Bosniak at the same time as the mayor is a Bosniak. The situation was the same last term, but the SDP did not object because they were part of the majority in the Municipal Council that elected the president of the council, who was also a Bosniak.

Jasmin Šošić resigned, and the SDP, for the umpteenth time, showed its treacherous face. The deputy presidents of the Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipal Council are: Nezir Hadžić - son of a martyr and one of the nine heroes of the defensive-liberation war; Kenan Kolašinac - Golden Lily, member of the special unit of the Second Motorized Brigade; Edita Šandal, daughter of a martyr whose father was killed by Chetniks before her eyes in Foča when she was 4 years old; Elma Lindov, daughter of an Army of RBiH fighter, recipient of the Golden Lily award.

The SDP also appealed to the Constitutional Court of the FBiH regarding the appointment of these deputy presidents of the Novi Grad Municipal Council. That is the SDP.

As long as that party exists with any significant electoral result in our country, the situation will not and cannot improve," Efendić stated.
