Sorensen: EU will continue to help BiH

The European Union will continue to actively help Bosnia and Herzegovina in its recovery from the catastrophic floods that hit it in May 2014 - stated today in Sarajevo the Head of the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Peter Sorensen at a meeting with the State Secretary for European Affairs of Portugal, Dr. Bruno Macaes.

- Authorities in BiH must now work even harder on promoting economic development, implementing economic reforms, creating a better business climate, and fighting corruption. The recovery process will offer opportunities for investment in reconstruction. Also, the focus should be placed on flood prevention and joint activities in the region with the aim of minimizing future risks - added Ambassador Sorensen.

During the meeting, the Ambassador and the State Secretary also discussed the economic and social situation in the country. The Ambassador highlighted the six areas of economic reforms defined during the Forum for Prosperity and Employment in BiH, which was held in May this year.
