(Patria) - Head of the European Union Delegation to BiH, Ambassador Luigi Soreca, says he had a very positive meeting today with the Governor of the Central Bank of BiH, Jasmina Selimović.
In a post on the X platform, Soreca emphasized the importance of the independence of the Central Bank of BiH, the integrity of the Currency Board, and the key role it plays in ensuring financial stability.
"We revisited the opportunities BiH could have if it joins the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), including simpler, faster, and cheaper bank transfers, and we discussed the current status of the application," Soreca wrote.

He emphasized that the Central Bank of BiH has full support in this coordinated process.
"We remain available to provide technical assistance as needed," Soreca stated.
According to him, being part of SEPA would benefit both businesses and individuals, but it requires authorities to make the necessary legal changes at the entity level.
"This opportunity within the Growth Plan must not be missed. Furthermore, it is additionally important for BiH to take the necessary steps to avoid being placed on the grey list by the Financial Action Task Force," Soreca urged.
He added that being placed on the grey list could negatively affect BiH's chances of joining SEPA.
