
(Patria) - Head of the European Union Delegation and EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Luigi Soreca, visited the Central Election Commission of BiH today, where he met with Irena Hadžiabdić, President, Ahmet Šantić and Željko Bakalar, members of the Central Election Commission of BiH.
The main topics of the meeting were the activities of the Central Election Commission of BiH with a special focus on the organization and implementation of the 2024 Local Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as planned activities for the upcoming 2026 General Elections.
Successful pilot projects using new election technologies were highlighted, with a special emphasis on Pilot Project 1 – Voter Authentication and Results Transmission, which tested the electronic voter identification system and the online entry and rapid transfer of election results from the polling station to the Central Election Commission of BiH in order to determine modalities for technologically strengthening election institutions and processes to minimize or eliminate possibilities of election fraud. This project was financially supported by the European Union.
Hadžiabdić thanked Ambassador Soreca for supporting the activities carried out by the Central Election Commission of BiH.
