Soreca to political actors in BiH: Reject rhetoric of provocations and divisions

(Patria) - Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in BiH Luigi Soreca addressed the current political situation in BiH tonight with a post on the X platform.

Soreca stated that the EU is unequivocally committed to the European perspective of BiH as a single, whole, and sovereign country.

"The EU calls on all political actors in BiH to refrain from and reject rhetoric of provocations and actions that cause divisions, including questioning the constitutional order, sovereignty, integrity, and territorial integrity of the country.

Following the European Council's decision in March 2024 to open accession negotiations, we encourage all political actors to focus on the European path for the benefit of citizens," Soreca stated.

Soreca met with ambassadors of EU member states in BiH today, and the current situation in our country was discussed.

"No one benefits from threats to the constitutional order, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the country. The citizens of BiH deserve greater stability and prosperity. The best guarantee for this is the continuation of the integration path towards a future in the EU.

Opening negotiations has never been closer. Political actors have an important responsibility to seize the opportunity offered to them for progress on the path to the EU and to take measures to find common ground for the benefit of the country's citizens.

The EU is and will remain unequivocally committed to the EU perspective of BiH as a single, united, and sovereign country," it was stated after the meeting.
