Soreca: EU membership is the best guarantee of stability and prosperity for BiH

(Patria) - Membership in the European Union is the best guarantee of stability and prosperity for Bosnia and Herzegovina, believes the Head of the EU Delegation to BiH and EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Luigi Soreca.

In a post on the X platform, Soreca wrote that only a few key steps remain for progress on the European path.

The first is the adoption of the Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of BiH and the Law on Courts that are in line with European standards. The second is the appointment of a Chief Negotiator and a team that will lead the negotiations and represent the country with a unified voice.

"Unfortunately, the BiH Council of Ministers did not manage to make progress in fulfilling these steps today," Soreca stated.

He reminded that public opinion polls show that the majority of citizens across Bosnia and Herzegovina want a European future.

"The European Union has clearly stated at the highest level that Bosnia and Herzegovina's place is in the EU," Soreca conveyed.

He also stated that the main deficiency is political will and called on all political actors to focus on fulfilling the remaining steps.

"The window of opportunity for progress on the European path must not be missed," he warned in the post on X.
