(Patria) - Strengthening the functioning of the judiciary and implementing integrity measures are essential for restoring public trust and for BiH's path to the EU, said today the Head of the EU Delegation to BiH, Luigi Soreca.
Soreca visited the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of BiH, where he spoke with its President, Sanin Bogunić.
Ensuring the functioning and independence of the Asset Declaration and External Oversight Operations Department, in line with European standards and recommendations outlined in the Country Report, is key in this context, said Soreca, calling on the authorities to urgently adopt the Law on the HJPC.
"We also discussed the EU's continued support for the rule of law and the judiciary, such as the pilot project for the digitalisation of judicial certificates of non-conviction implemented by EU4Justice. This project will soon be operational and will concretely help the citizens of BiH.
Up to 50 million euros are available under the Growth Plan for the judiciary, if the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina urgently take the necessary steps to implement the Reform Agenda," Soreca stated in a post on platform X.

The HJPC of BiH stated that during the meeting, opinions were exchanged on current reform processes in the judiciary, strengthening the independence and efficiency of judicial institutions, and continuing the partnership cooperation between the EU and the HJPC.
Special attention during the talks was devoted to the digitalisation of the judiciary, with a focus on developing an application that will enable simple and secure online procurement of extracts regarding the absence of criminal proceedings, with the aim of facilitating the daily needs of citizens and improving the accessibility of judicial services.
The meeting participants confirmed their joint commitment to improving the rule of law and the institutional stability of the judiciary, the HJPC of BiH announced.
