Solak: Rivers are in their beds, flash floods are the problem

Fahrudin Solak, director of the Federal Civil Protection Administration, says that despite increased water levels, rivers in BiH are still in their beds, writes Patria.

- The rain has stopped falling and the rivers are rising, but for now there is no danger, as they are not growing rapidly. For now, we do not need to take any flood defense measures. We are most troubled by temporary and intermittent flash floods, because the soil is saturated with water. The ground can no longer absorb such a quantity of precipitation – says Solak.

He further adds that an uncertain autumn and winter certainly await us, but that we should prepare for possible new problems already.

- Nature is like that. It is definitely changing its mood compared to what we had before. We should certainly see to it that we are as prepared as possible for the coming period, that we equip ourselves, and become socially responsible – Solak added.
