Shock in Banja Luka: Police Officer Grabs Man's Hand Just as He Tried to Throw a Bomb

A man attempted to throw a bomb in Sive Matavulja Street in Banja Luka last night, but a police officer stopped him. Officer Budimir Popović squeezed the man's hand with his own, the hand in which the man held the bomb, returned the safety pin to the bomb, and thus prevented an incident, Patria reports.

Due to demonstrated courage and professionalism in their work, a reception was held today for Officer Popović and his colleagues Veljko Karanović and Mladin Ivanković at the command of the Banja Luka Center Police Station.

Last night around 00:20, the officers noticed several men fleeing from a catering facility. The officers managed to catch three men, one of whom held a bomb without a safety pin in his hand. Before he could throw the bomb, the officer grabbed his hand and returned the safety pin. The report will be submitted to the Prosecutor's Office, and the men have been released in the meantime, Patria reports.
