Softić receives award for contribution to the stability of the BiH financial system

(Patria) - At the traditional event "Bankers' Evening" held in Sarajevo, organized by the financial and business magazine "Banks and Business", the "Golden BAM" award was presented to the Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBiH), Dr. Senad Softić, for his contribution to the stability of the BiH financial system.

The "Golden BAM" plaque is a special recognition from the jury, composed of journalists and expert associates of the magazine "Banks and Business", awarded for contributions to the quality work and development of the banking sector.
The Governor emphasized the importance of recognizing the role and significance of the CBBiH by the wider public.

"The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina is an institution that will continue to adhere to the highest professional standards of central banking. We are very aware that the world around us, our environment, and the business climate in BiH are rapidly changing. We strive to follow modern trends as best as possible, among which I will list only a few of the most important: digitalization of finance and the emergence of so-called fintech companies, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, the impact of climate change on financial stability, a focus on financial inclusion, i.e., including a larger proportion of the population in the formal financial sector, the necessity of financial education because the financial products offered are becoming increasingly complex, etc. These are all challenges that we must consider if we want to keep pace with current and future trends," said Governor Softić, adding that, in line with this, the CBBiH will continue to work continuously on increasing transparency, regularly publishing all its reports, and strengthening its presence on social networks.

The "Golden BAM" award was presented to commercial banks in eight other categories: assets, total capital, return on equity, return on assets, size of equity, volume of deposit and loan growth, largest assets among banks with predominantly domestic capital, and largest gross profit per employee among banks with predominantly domestic capital. The awards were given based on the audited financial statements of the banks for 2019.
