Social Democrats to bring union struggle to parliamentary benches

At today's session of the Presidency of the SDP BiH, most of the discussion focused on a series of destabilizing moves by the current authorities and adequate responses to this situation. Officials of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina warned that the ruling parties in the Federation of BiH and the Republika Srpska are showing an unprecedented level of social insensitivity and neglect, the SDP BiH announced, as reported by the Patria news agency.

"Attacks on workers and workers' rights continue without any restraint. The new amendments to the Labor Law of the Federation of BiH will not only further undermine the position of workers and honest employers but will completely nullify the importance of the collective agreement and render the union struggle meaningless.

The very purpose of unions is lost, and workers become mere servants and slaves of capital owners, while these amendments only serve their criminal employers. The circle that began with criminal privatizations now ends with leaving workers at the mercy of owners of dubious capital," emphasized SDP officials.

Full support was expressed for the Union of Independent Trade Unions of BiH, and it was announced that the Social Democrats will fully support the union struggle and bring it to the parliamentary benches. The SDP believes it would be nothing short of a disaster if we reach a situation where the minimum wage is decided solely by the Federal Government, which considers a minimum wage of 406 KM "socially dangerous."

"According to UN data, 700,000 citizens in our country live on the brink of poverty. Every sixth resident lives on 3 to 5 KM per day, and every third lives below the subsistence level. We have over half a million unemployed, and the average salary is half the consumer basket. At the same time, the authorities in both entities claim that life is good and even accuse citizens of wastefulness. For us, this is a clear indicator that this government has completely betrayed the trust of citizens," was the message from the session of the Presidency of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Abolishing the General Hospital is a crime against citizens

The SDP Presidency also discussed the authorities' attempts to abolish the General Hospital "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš" and once again confirmed the SDP's stance, which considers the attempt to destroy hospital capacities that would be turned into administrative offices a crime against citizens.

It has been shown that citizens can, through united action, stand up to even the most influential power brokers and thwart their plans, which was assessed as the most important outcome of the entire story. The SDP will contribute to the fight for the General Hospital through its activities in the parliaments of the Canton and the Federation of BiH. There was also discussion about the continuous attacks on the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the non-compliance with the decisions of this institution, which are considered unacceptable, the SDP announced.
