(Patria) - Strahinja Bašević, acting director of the Forestry Enterprise "Romanija" Sokolac and SNSD MP in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, surrendered to police in East Sarajevo this morning.
As confirmed to "Nezavisne novine" by the District Public Prosecutor's Office in East Sarajevo, Bašević was arrested immediately after surrendering.
"He surrendered with his lawyer in the morning hours and was immediately deprived of his liberty," they said.
Bašević, it should be recalled, had been on the run since yesterday, after members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, under the supervision of the District Public Prosecutor's Office in East Sarajevo, arrested four former and current directors in the Forests of Republika Srpska in yesterday's operation, including Slaven Gojković, while Bašević escaped.
We remind you that, in addition to Gojković, Mladen Lakić, acting director of the Forestry Enterprise "Sjemeć" Rogatica, Janko Golijanin, former acting director of the Forestry Enterprise "Visočnik" Han Pijesak, and Lazo Čarkić, acting director of the Forestry Enterprise "Panos" Višegrad, were arrested.
They were arrested on suspicion that during 2020, by abusing their official position and authority, they damaged the budget of Republika Srpska through illegal operations in four forestry enterprises and the Public Enterprise Forests of Republika Srpska.
