SNSD to Run in Early Elections for President of Republika Srpska, Candidate Yet to Be Announced

(Patria) - President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik stated that the SNSD will propose a candidate for the early elections for the entity's president when necessary, i.e., after consultations with coalition partners.

"The decision was not difficult. When we saw that others, in a hidden way, want to completely destabilize the RS, we decided to run in these elections. I call on our people to mobilize, not to think for a moment that it will be easy. On the other side is a hypocritical structure that quarrels, and then, on orders from abroad, gathers around a single candidate," said Dodik, who did not wish to comment on the opposition's candidate.

He added that the name of the candidate already exists, but they are awaiting talks with coalition partners.

He also announced that the National Assembly of the RS will decide who will serve as acting president of the RS until the early elections are concluded.

He confirmed that the SNSD will register for the elections today.

"The victory of our candidate in these elections for a one-year term is a reflection of our strength and serious preparation, and that is one of the reasons why we must consider running in the elections," Dodik added at the session of the Main Board.

He added that the SNSD has always been a party with an idea.

"It will never happen that an individual writes history here; it will always be written by this political party," Dodik emphasized.

He proposed that the referendum be held on the same day as the early elections.
