SNSD and HDZ in panic after dismissal of five CEC members requested

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - At the regular session of the House of Representatives of the BiH PA, which began after the thematic session concluded, SDS MP Dragan Mektić requested the inclusion of a new item in which he asked for the dismissal of members of the Central Election Commission whose terms have expired and the appointment of new members.

Dragan Mektić, an SDS MP, using his parliamentary powers, proposed that an item be included on the agenda for the House to vote on, which would read "Decision on the termination of mandate and on the election and assumption of office of four members of the Central Election Commission".

Zlatan Begić (DF) also proposed an item on the termination of office of CEC members and the assumption of office by one member.

However, before the vote, a five-minute break was taken, after which Borjana Krišto took the floor and said she wanted to remind them that this House had appointed a Commission for announcing the tender procedure for the appointment of members.

"I am a member, as are Safet Softić and Nebojša Radmanović. I was elected president, yesterday we had a second session at which a draft decision for the tender was made. I remind you, we cannot dismiss members while the election results have not been implemented," Krišto said.

Mektić stated that the Election Law is clear and specified this norm.

Given the expiry of the mandate and the fact that the legal procedure was not followed, the Election Law left room for the House of Representatives to appoint the members of the CEC.

"In accordance with its procedure, the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH appoints members of the CEC from a list of candidates. If this list is not submitted to the House of Representatives of the BiH PA within 30 days before the expiry of the mandate of the CEC members, the House of Representatives of the BiH PA proposes and appoints the members of the CEC," it is stated in the Election Law of BiH.

Mektić requested that the members of the CEC whose mandates have expired be dismissed from their positions, namely Suad Arnautović, Branko Petrić, Novak Božičković, and Ahmet Šantić.

Zlatan Begić requested the dismissal of Stjepan Mikić and the assumption of office by another person.

After that, another break of half an hour followed.
