Snow drifts cause traffic jams in most of Bosnia

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Due to snow drifts, traffic is suspended for all vehicle categories on the main roads Kupres-Šuica and Glamoč-Mlinište and Sokolac-Han Pijesak (Luburić Polje), on the main road Mokro-Sokolac for trucks with trailers and semi-trailers. Due to overturned trucks, traffic is difficult on the main roads Tuzla-Bijeljina (Banj Brdo) and Olovo-Kladanj (Karaula). On the main road Sarajevo-Konjic over the Ivan Sedlo pass, traffic is currently suspended for trucks with trailers and semi-trailers due to cleaning, and on the main road Stupari-Kladanj-Karaula pass, traffic is suspended for all trucks for the same reason.

Due to snowfall, the use of chains is mandatory for trucks on the roads: Sarajevo-Tuzla (Nišići), Trnovo-Dobro Polje (Rogoj) and Prozor-Gornji Vakuf/Uskoplje (Makljen).

There is also compacted snow on the road on other roads in the higher areas of central, southwestern and eastern Bosnia, so drivers on these sections are urged to drive with maximum caution. We also warn of occasional strong gusts of wind, especially in the southern and southwestern regions. Due to low temperatures, occasional ice is possible, especially on sections in higher areas, on bridges and near tunnels.

On roads in lower areas, traffic is on wet roads, and we warn of frequent landslides on numerous sections.

On the main road Zenica-Nemila, through the Vranduk tunnel, traffic is two-way from 5 AM to 9 PM. From 9 PM to 12:30 AM, vehicles are allowed to pass alternately, while from 12:30 AM to 5 AM, traffic through the tunnel is suspended. During the suspension, vehicles up to 7.5 tons of total weight can use the detour through the settlement of Tetovo, and vehicles over 7.5 tons can use the alternative routes Doboj-Šićki Brod-Sarajevo and Žepče-Zavidovići-Olovo-Sarajevo.

There are currently no waiting times longer than 30 minutes at border crossings.

For safety reasons, traffic for trucks and buses is suspended on the roads to and from the Brčko-Gunja border crossing bridge.
