SNOW QUEEN Vlhova triumphed ahead of Shiffrin

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The traditional Snow Queen women's slalom race near Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, has concluded.

It will be remembered for the very difficult conditions on the course. Strong winds scattered leaves across the slope, with the biggest problem being at the first gate. Of the first 12 skiers in the second run, as many as five failed to finish the race.

Victory went to Petra Vlhova ahead of Mikaela Shiffrin. Third place was taken by Austrian Katharina Liensberger.

Kranjska Gora is the next stop on the women's World Cup circuit, with a giant slalom and slalom scheduled for January 8 and 9. The Slovenian resort took over the races from Maribor, which were cancelled due to a lack of snow.
