Reduced and Locked Prices for 65 Food and Hygiene Products in FBiH

(Patria) - In the fifth wave of the locked prices project, a list of 65 food and hygiene products has been agreed upon for which prices have been reduced and locked.

Prices will be lower than current ones by 17 to 23 percent, allowing consumers to save around 60 KM.

This is the result of an agreement between the Federal Minister of Trade, Amir Hasičević, and retailers, manufacturers, consumer associations, and trade union representatives, reached at the end of January 2025, the Federal Ministry of Trade announced.

Three meetings were held to promote dialogue among all actors in the retail chain with the aim of mitigating the pressure on consumers' pockets, due to January price increases, and ensuring price stability for basic foodstuffs and hygiene products.



"Numerous retail chains and other legal and natural persons with smaller format stores are voluntarily participating in this project.

Retailers themselves choose the brands of specific products, so they will have clearly displayed lists in their sales outlets indicating which brands of products are reduced and locked.

The lists will also be published on the website of the Federal Ministry of Trade," the ministry stated.

The project will last for three months, with the possibility of extension.

They also emphasize that this project, like the previous ones, is not designed to ensure low prices for luxury products, but to enable socially vulnerable categories to afford basic foodstuffs at acceptable prices.

They note that items whose prices are rising daily on the world market, such as coffee, have been excluded from this wave of the project. The prices that are locked cannot be higher during the duration of the promotion. The prices on the list represent the maximum amount at which the prices of these products can fluctuate.
