(Patria) - The announced cooling arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina this morning, bringing the first significant snowfall of the year to the northern parts of the country, while the south faces heavy rains and strong winds.
Snow has already blanketed Posavina and northern Bosnia. According to information and photos from the ground, a white cover has formed in Brčko, Laktaši, Stanari, and surrounding areas, creating a winter atmosphere, but also problems for drivers.
According to meteorologists' forecasts, heavier snowfall is expected in the coming days.
While Bosnia is battling snow, Herzegovina and the southwest of the country are under water. In the past 24 hours, the most rain fell in Gacko (37 l/m²), Bileća (34 l/m²), and Čemerno (33 l/m²).
Special caution is advised to residents of the south due to the wind. In Bosnia, a light to moderate northeasterly wind will blow, but in Herzegovina, a moderate to strong southerly wind with storm-force gusts is expected, which can create additional problems in traffic and on infrastructure.
