Snow causing problems in USK: Power outages in several municipalities and cities, classes suspended

(Patria) - Power supply has been interrupted in several municipalities/cities of the Una-Sana Canton due to heavier snowfall that began during the night.

The snowfall has burdened the electricity distribution network, power lines have been damaged due to falling trees and branches, and there are difficulties in maintaining power supply stability, the Federal Civil Protection Administration (FUCZ) announced.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Una-Sana Canton issued an instruction to postpone regular classes in all primary and secondary schools in the canton today due to adverse weather conditions.

The decision was made due to unfavorable weather conditions, as a result of which most schools have no electricity.

In Canton 10, due to strong winds and snow, the 10-kilovolt power line Vržerale (Livno) is de-energized, and since 7:00 AM, the 10-kilovolt power line Prekaja (Drvar) has been out of order.

Repairs are underway.

The Federal Hydrometeorological Institute issued a yellow warning due to wind gusts in western, northwestern areas and in Herzegovina between 50 and 80 kilometers per hour.

For other areas, a yellow warning was issued due to precipitation amounts between 20 and 40 liters per square meter.

The height of the new snow cover is between 10 and 25 centimeters, in higher areas and mountains from 20 to 40, and locally 50 centimeters.
